There is a need in our church and the community for a support group for caregivers of elderly parents or other family members who may be ill or in need of care and assistance.

Our support group will be comprised of both current and past caregivers who will be tremendously helpful through sharing information, including contacts in various categories, sharing ideas and personal experiences, and serving as a sounding board to discuss individual situations, needs, and successes.

We have been gathering information and have contacted potential speakers on topics, such as:

            Elderly Sitting                                     Medicare, Care Plus, & Medicaid

            Home Healthcare                                Long Term Healthcare

            Hospice                                               Aging Resources

            Georgia Dept. of Aging Services          Respite Care

            Dementia Care                                    Alzheimer Care

 

At some meetings we will just share through roundtable discussions; and, we will have guest speakers at other meetings. 

Sharing and caring is what a support group is all about – trying to help others in any way we can through listening, sharing, and offering support in tangible ways as well. 

If you have an interest in participating as a current, past or future caregiver, please join us.  You do not have to be a member of this church or any church.  Everyone is welcome to come.

Meetings will normally be held on the third Sunday of the month at 3:00 PM in the John Darcy Room. Watch the Announcements page for more information.

The next meeting of the Caregiver Support Group will be held on Sunday, October 28th at 3:00p in the John Darsey room. This will be a meeting of sharing and roundtable discussion.
