Commerce Hooks and Needles A Knitting and Crocheting Group That Welcomes Everyone
Commerce Hooks and Needles has been meeting at CFUMC for almost four years now. It is an active group of mostly ladies. There are knitter and crocheters, novice and advance in both. We charge no fees and have no dues. We come together once a week to knit, crochet, share ideas and fellowship. You can find us usually in the fellowship hall, from 6 to 8 on Tuesday evenings. We do sometimes move to the Preschool wing to make room for another program to take place. If you want to learn to knit you will need a skein of light colored yarn, (not Sweetheart) and a wood or bamboo size 8 needle. I would recommend a circuclur. If you are going to crochet you need the same yarn but a H or G needle. We will provide you the rest.
We have as a group worked on 12x12 squares that are differnt patterns to make an Afghan. We all took 2 month off our own knitting last summer to worked on hats and scarfs. As a group we provided over 30 sets of hats and scarfs to needy kids at Christmas. We have made a scrap afghan for a police car. We are now involved in a knit-along doing a sweater. For many of us it is our first sweater. If you do not want to join in on one of our project you do not have to. Many of the ladies did not feel ready to knit the sweater so only 5 are doing that. Come join us. Call Chris Harmon 706-870-0164 or email her at chrisandkenh@windsteam.net if you have any questions.
