 What
a wonderful time to be part of this great congregation at Commerce
First United Methodist Church! The next great spiritual revival in
this nation will be among the churches of the “mainline”
denominations. We want to be among those being revived.
We have a great
sense of our past. We should never lose touch with any of the
people, the dedication, and the traditions that have brought us to
understand how we are to be God’s people.
Jesus also calls
the church to ministry and mission in the present. We are a people
experiencing deep worship with great music. We have the finest
children’s ministries in our area. Our
United Methodist Women are
the envy of the other churches of the Gainesville District. Our
Stephen Ministry is nearly unique among all the congregations of all
denominations in our region. Our Preschool Staff and Preschool
Board are leading this ministry to children and families toward
excellence.
Yet, it is our
vision of God’s future that calls and guides us. We face exciting
challenges with the renovation of our Sanctuary. We are inviting
the other churches of our area to join with us in ministries to
youth, to those in need of food, clothing, and assistance, to
newcomers to our area, and to any who would know, grow, and show
God’s love.
All we ask are
your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your service as we make
disciples for Jesus Christ in this place and time through Commerce
FUMC.
